I have to say that this BlackBerry 8830 World Edition is a pretty fun little device. I really like the track ball and the screen is pretty vibrant. What makes this phone a World Edition is that it is packaged with power adapters for overseas usage. Wee…what fun. Let me give you a few pros of this phone according to me:

  • Verizon’s Broadband lets you use the phone as a wireless access point with your laptop.
  • Nice screen
  • Light Sensitive keypad
  • Easy to sync up with BlackBerry Exchange Server
  • Nice skin-able OS
  • Programmable quick keys
  • GPS Capable

Now for the list of CONS:

  • Microphone is too darn sensistive…picks up more background noise than you can imagine
  • Before upgrading the OS, the BlackBerry 8830 would actually crash and would require removing the battery
  • Battery life is horrible, especially if you have a low signal
  • Ergonomically it is like talking to a cassette tape
  • If you have Verizon, they purposely turn off the GPS capabilities
